Spectrum cascade in drift wave turbulence in a magnetized plasma as well as Rossby wave turbulence in an atmospheric pressure system are studied based on a three‐wave decay process derivable from the model equation applicable to both cases. The decay in the three‐way interaction occurs to smaller and larger values of ‖k‖. In a region of large wavenumbers this Cited by: MHD turbulence is observed,or expected to be excited, namely turbulence in the solar wind,in accretion disks, and in the interstellar medium. A book on MHD turbulence is also a book on hydrodynamic turbulence, using and generalizing methods developed for the latter, which the reader will find in the first parts of most chapters. This graduate-level course provides a unified treatment of nonlinear oscillations and wave phenomena with applications to mechanical, optical, geophysical, fluid, electrical and flow-structure interaction problems. Magnetohydrodynamic turbulence concerns the chaotic regimes of magnetofluid flow at high Reynolds number. Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) deals with what is a quasi-neutral fluid with very high fluid approximation implies that the focus is on macro length-and-time scales which are much larger than the collision length and collision time respectively.

As a preliminary definition, a soliton is considered as solitary, traveling wave pulse solution of nonlinear partial differential equation (PDE). The nonlinearity will play a significant role.

For most dispersive evolution equations these solitary waves would scatter inelastically and lose 'energy' due to the radiation.Ebook Weather and Nonlinear Waves and Processes Prize.
